The Fondo Saccà demo is centred on creating an inclusive and socially responsive Renewable Energy Community within a regenerated neighbourhood in Sicily. The site combines PV generation, energy storage, and solar thermal systems with public-access buildings such as a library, educational facilities, and social spaces. SOCIAREM tests tools designed to promote equitable energy distribution, using indicators of vulnerability, participation, and financial capacity to ensure that energy benefits reach low-income and underserved groups. The focus is not only technological but also social: strengthening community cohesion, improving local services, and supporting energy justice. The pilot explores digital tools for fair resource sharing, federated data approaches, and energy literacy through interactive activities.
