Solar Open Community Instruments for All Residents in Europe & the Mediterranean
THE CONSORTIUM
SOCIAREM brings together a multidisciplinary consortium of 15 organisations from eight countries, coordinated by Comillas Pontifical University (Spain). The partnership includes universities, research centres, innovative SMEs and social organisations with expertise in renewable energy, data analytics, gamification, citizen engagement and community energy models. Together, the partners develop and validate digital tools, methodologies and technical solutions to support the adoption of photovoltaic systems and strengthen more inclusive, efficient and sustainable energy communities across Europe.

UNIVERSIDAD PONTIFICIA COMILLAS
The Institute of Research and Technology (IIT), with over 60 researchers will lead the work, leveraging experience from over 15 EU projects on smart grids, energy transition, prosumer participation, demand response, and energy communities, among others. Main role: Project coordinator. Research, PV location and installation optimisations tool and serious game development. WP1, WP4, WPS and WP7 leader.

Experts in strategic innovation and service design from the ecosystem and people’s perspective, focusing on user and employee experience, research, and implementation of impactful initiatives and with long experience in energy sector projects. Main role: Serious Game development and SSH activities.
8D-GAMES
Specialised company in Serious Games development for education and user engagement, leveraging play and design thinking to transform research insights into practical, user centred solutions. Main role: UX game design development and adaptive interface. WP2 leader.
R&T NESTER
Specialised in energy systems research, development, and innovation, with expertise in power systems simulation, smart grids, renewable energy management, and energy markets. Main role: Development of REC network simulation platform. WP3 Leader.
WATT-IS
Experts in data analytics and AI-driven solutions to optimise energy efficiency through software platforms, smart metering data, advanced analytics, providing cost reduction, real-time insights, and tailored recommendations. Main role: Peer to peer blockchain technology.
CEVE
Portuguese energy cooperative dedicated to the distribution and supply of electricity in the Vale d’Este region. It promotes the sustainable and responsible use of energy sources. Main role: DSO leading the Demo in Portugal.
UNIVERSITY OF DEUSTO
DeustoTech, the Institute of Technology of the University od Deusto, specialises in applied research, innovation, and technology transfer, with participation in 31+ EU Framework Programmes, including coordination of 7. Main tasks: Social data space and ethical energy tariff design.
UNIVERSITY OF CYPRUS
The KIOS Research and Innovation Centre of Excellence brings expertise in applied and industrial-geared research and innovation, intelligent monitoring, management, and safety of critical infrastructure. Main role: Cyprus demo leader involving implementation of an energy community (commercial and residential buildings) and DT design.
PHOEBE RESEARCH & INNOVATION
Innovation SME specialised in developing cloud-based software and hardware solutions for large-scale systems and critical infrastructure. Main role: Implementation of IoT infrastructure in CY Demo and development of an energy monitoring & management platform.
ASWAN UNIVERSITY
The Electrical Engineering department specialises on education, research, and community engagement to optimise RES integration, particularly on solar energy, into power systems and microgrids. Main role: Development of an open-source tool, digital planning and optimisation.
EMPA
The Urban Energy Systems group aims to develop innovative energy solutions, modelling, and design strategies to optimise the integration of RE, multi-energy grids, and storage systems at various scales. Main role: Design and demonstration of community PV systems in CH, focusing on real-time operation, sector coupling (EVs, data centres, heat pumps), PV optimisation and business model analysis.
FONDAZIONE MESSINA
Community foundation specialised in innovative social and economic development models to combat poverty and inequality. Main role: Leader of demo in Italy.
SINLOC
Consultancy and investment group that supports the development of local infrastructure, focusing on energy transition, urban regeneration, and public utilities. Main role: business model and business plan development for tool integration in RECs, regulatory considerations; support for the IT Demo.
FINNOVA FOUNDATION
Non-profit organisation seeking to promote public-private cooperation via innovation to address societal challenges. Main role: Finnova will perform communication, dissemination and engagement activities. WP6 leader.
ZABALA
Zabala currently provides DC&E services and R&D management to coordinator of more then 100 European projects. Main role: Zabala will perform exploitation activities within the project and will support Comillas in the project management activities.
