· The Horizon Europe project joins the EUSEW Energy Fair to present innovative solutions for Renewable Energy Communities and inclusive energy transition
· Visit the project at Stand 15, Charlemagne Building, Brussels.
Brussels, 9 June 2026 – Today, Tuesday 9th May, 2026, marks the opening of the European Sustainable Energy Week (EUSEW) 2026, the European Union’s flagship event on renewable energy and energy efficiency. As part of the official Energy Fair, the Horizon Europe project SOCIAREM (Solar Open Community Instruments for All Residents in Europe and the Mediterranean region) is presenting its innovative approach to empowering citizens and communities in the clean energy transition.
Organised by the European Commission, EUSEW brings together policymakers, researchers, industry representatives, public authorities and EU-funded projects from across Europe to discuss the future of sustainable energy. Under this year’s theme, “A clean, secure and competitive Energy Union”, the event highlights innovative solutions that can accelerate Europe’s path towards climate neutrality while strengthening energy resilience and competitiveness.
Throughout the event, visitors to the SOCIAREM stand will have the opportunity to learn about the project’s work in developing digital and social tools designed to support the creation and operation of Renewable Energy Communities (RECs). These include planning tools for energy communities and grid operators, peer-to-peer energy exchange solutions, real-time optimisation systems, tools for integrating storage and electric mobility, and citizen engagement initiatives aimed at ensuring a fair and inclusive energy transition.
Co-funded by Horizon Europe, SOCIAREM seeks to address the technical, social and regulatory barriers that often prevent citizens and local communities from actively participating in the energy transition. By combining innovative technologies with community-centred approaches, the project aims to make renewable energy more accessible, participatory and beneficial for all.
The project is represented at EUSEW by consortium partner Finnova Foundation, holding a a stand within the Energy Fair and engaging with visitors from across Europe’s energy ecosystem.
With demonstration activities taking place in Switzerland, Portugal, Italy and Cyprus, and a strong Euro-Mediterranean dimension, SOCIAREM contributes to the development of more resilient, democratic and sustainable energy systems capable of meeting Europe’s future challenges.
Visitors attending EUSEW 2026 are invited to visit the SOCIAREM stand to discover how Renewable Energy Communities can help shape a cleaner, more inclusive and citizen-driven energy future.
